About Derek Myers

Derek Myers, a highly proficient options analyst at Eagle Financial Publications, has built his career on the foundations of hard work, perseverance, and self-reliance. These qualities were instilled in him from a young age and throughout his time in the military.

At just 17, Derek enlisted in the Army National Guard and later served as an active-duty soldier around the world, where he embarked on a self-directed path to investment success. He studied seminal works such as Security Analysis and The Intelligent Investor, purchased his first stocks, and even established an Army investment club that remains active today two decades later.

With a solid understanding of fundamental and technical analysis, Derek ventured into trading puts and calls, eventually progressing to more complex option strategies, including Double Diagonals and butterflies, which he continues to employ effectively.

Following eight years of Army service, Derek delved into the real estate sector as a mortgage broker and realtor. The knowledge he acquired allowed him to astutely restructure his portfolio prior to the housing market crash.

In 2015, as his wife Alicia joined the Air Force, Derek resolved to focus on options trading. After an exhaustive search for trustworthy investment guidance, he found his future mentor, Jim Fink. Over the next two years, Derek sharpened his trading acumen and supported his family as a full-time options trader before joining Jim Fink, where he now educates thousands of novice traders. Derek works with Jim on Inner Circle and Seasonal Stock Alert, as well as provides training sessions on options and is active on the Jim Fink Forum boards.

In his leisure time, Derek cherishes moments with his family, rides sports bikes, coaches wrestling, and trains in Muay Thai. He continues to educate soldiers at the local base on investment strategies and assists them in managing their portfolios. Derek is immensely proud of his two sons for enlisting in the Army National Guard and the Army as a Cavalry Scout and an Airborne Infantryman, respectively. He envisions them someday joining the family’s second business venture in options trading as well.
